If you are aged 55 or over, and go to Nicolstown or Alma Road Surgeries, or Newtown Health Clinic, you may receive a survey from your GP in the next few weeks. Download An Information Sheet As adults we tend not to give our balance system the practice it needs. Health problems can also weaken the balance system. considering having massage therapy at the Centre.
Holistic Remedial & Therapeutic Massage
Glenn can be contacted on 023 8048 0120. DO YOU SUFFER FROM: Stress & Tension, Backache, Neckache, Muscle Strain, Arthritis, Bad Circulation, Insomnia, Blocked Sinuses, Whiplash, Headaches, Sciatica, & Sports Injuries. Remedial Massage Therapy is a powerful tool used to achieve long-term relief from muscular and joint problems, headaches, stress related disorders and many other painful or debilitating conditions. Deep tissue massage is used to breakdown adhesions between muscle fibers, which will improve your range of movement and reduce pain by lengthening and releasing tight muscles and tendons. Adhesions can be the result of sports activities, accidents, medical conditions, surgery or occupational, postural and emotional stress. If anyone would like to talk to the therapist before they decide to book an appointment, please let Glenn know and he will be happy to come into the Centre or call him at home on 023 8048 0120. In the School of Psychology at the University of Southampton, we are investigating how the mind works in different age groups. We already have a list of volunteers helping us with our research, which takes many forms. So far, we have had studies about driving, attention & awareness, emotions & moods, decision making, and temporary effects of inflammation on cognitive processes. Due to the variety of our studies, we have different types of volunteers on our volunteer list. Some volunteers enjoy coming to the School of Psychology to take part in a study, while others prefer to take part in a study in their own home. However, most of our studies do take part at the School of Psychology located in Highfield. So far, we have had 183 people sign up to our volunteer list, but we need more and you could help us with this. If you are interested in taking part in a study, why not download and read our information sheet (39kb) explaining what is involved in becoming a volunteer. If you wish to proceed and become a volunteer, either email Petra Harris at P.B.Harris@soton.ac.uk or telephone on 02380-592917. back to top Ask About Medicines Week 2005 Over the last two years Ask About Medicines (AAM) has shown itself to be an effective vehicle for whole range of activities and events organised by local partners to improve people’s understanding of their medicines. Many people have relatively poor access to information and support about their health and medicines. To address this, a number of Ask About Medicines Week (AAMW) events organised by local partners have targeted populations of people with specific needs successfully.
